Paul White Injury

On Sunday 7 February, Paul suffered an injury while paddle boarding.  Paul was struck on the head by the board, injuring his spine.  He was paralysed from the neck down and nearly drowned as a result.

Paul remains in hospital in Whangarei.  He has regained movement and sensation and is expected to make a full (or near full) recovery. However, he has significant pain, and has nerve and spinal issues.

Update 11 February 2016

Paul has been discharged from Whangarei hospital and will return to Auckland tomorrow.

Update 15 February 2016

Paul is recuperating at home.  His pain, sensation and balance continue to improve.

I visited Paul over the weekend and can report that his sense of humour is uninjured.

Paul will not return to work in the immediate future.  He will not be able to travel for at least the next six weeks.

Thank-you to everyone that has called or emailed to wish Paul well.  However, to allow him to rest and recover, please contact me (+64 21 996 394 or paul.webber@wedgewoodwhite.com) rather than Paul.  I will update this web page every few days to keep you informed of progress.

Update 17 February 2016

Paul is back at work part time.  He's still wobbly and weak, but improving.  Feel free to call or email him directly.

Update 17 March 2016

Paul is back at work full time.  He has more-or-less fully recovered and is looking forward to getting rid of his neck brace.  This will be the last update posted here.
